So I can’t sit on this any longer, and it’s looking unlikely that I’ll have time to add anything to this list with only two and a half days left in the year. So it’s time to present the list of my absolute favourite reads of 2019! (In no particular order, because otherwise I’d be preparing this post ALL DAY and into the night…)
It’s all about endings – some a relief, and some utterly heartbreaking – in the final chapters of this book. This damn book. Grab your tissues and join me to discuss the fate of our darlings. Spoilers will follow for chapters 43 through to the end.
Noon returns. The gang rescue Bern, with some unforeseen assistance. Hestillion is truly tested in battle, at last. And I spilled my feelings absolutely EVERYWHERE. Let’s discuss The Poison Song. Spoilers follow for chapters 31 through 42.
It’s been a difficult month in terms of getting anything actually done, to the point where I’ve had to step back from some things and use my time to just breathe, regroup and try to focus on the next thing, and hope to return to the unfinished things when the brain weasels will allow it. Vintage and Chenlo clash with Queen Tyranny, Noon is forced to confront her past, and Tor makes a terrible decision – with dire consequences for Bern. Deep breaths. Let’s discuss The Poison Song. Spoilers follow for chapters 20 through 30.
Vintage and Agent Chenlo make it to Tygrish, where they immediately clash with its newly crowned queens. Meanwhile, some very unexpected trouble is in store for our battle-ready heroes as they attempt to take on a very mission-oriented Hestillion… Deep breaths. Let’s discuss The Poison Song. SPOILERS FOLLOW FOR CHAPTERS 10 THROUGH 19.
Today we’re FINALLY returning to the world of Sarn, for the finale of the Winnowing Flame trilogy by Jen Williams. It may be overdue, but my enthusiasm has not waned – and neither has, it seems, the author’s knack for making me feel all the things. It’s going to be one hell of a ride. Let’s discuss The Poison Song. SPOILERS FOLLOW FOR CHAPTERS 1 THROUGH 9.
So the weather’s gotten abominably warm, to the point where I’m hydrating more than I’ve ever hydrated before. On the plus side, I’m on a wonderful streak of reading amazing books, and with August on the doorstep, Worldcon is that much closer! Let’s look at what July got done, and take a look ahead at some fun things coming soon!
Our heroes finally find what they set out looking for – but oh, the cost… Bittersweet barely describes it. Let’s burn it all down discuss The Bitter Twins. Spoilers follow for chapter 47 through to the end.
