Welcome to Wyrd and Wonder 2023!

Hello, adventurers! It is May 1st, and you know what that means. Wyrd and Wonder 2023 has begun!

If you don’t know what that means, don’t worry. Just follow me down this rabbit hole and I’ll explain…

Wyrd and Wonder is an annual, month-long celebration of all things fantasy. So grab your books, your movies and TV shows, your comics, your art – whatever fits under the fantasy umbrella and floats your boat, we celebrate it all! From May 1st to the 31st, we’ll be hanging out in internet space and sharing reviews, lists, discussions, pics etc. of things we love (or things we don’t, or that we just find interesting!).

For more information on what’s going on and how you can take part, imyril has the rundown for you.

Highlights of each annual event are, of course, our Wyrd and Wonder Challenge, which you can read more about here. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t give special mention to our Read Alongs, of which we have two running this year!

You can join me here for a Read Along of Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones (details at the link); in addition, our returning co-host Annemieke over at A Dance With Books is running a Read Along for Rin Chupeco’s The Bone Witch! Check out those details on her blog.

That’s all I have firmly on the agenda at the moment; with life being chaotic all around right now, I’m going to play it loose and see where the month takes me, but you can keep up with what our adventuring party is up to on Twitter and Instagram (@wyrdandwonder)! You can also join us in the OtherWorlds server on Discord, which is set up for both Wyrd and Wonder and SciFi Month – just send a DM @deargeekplace on Twitter if you’d like an invite.

Oh, and don’t forget you can catch up on the various goings-on throughout the month via our weekly Quest Log roundups, where we’ll gather links and share the party’s goods! Those will be provided this year by myself and Ariana at The Book Nook.

Right then! That’s enough chatter. I’ve got fantastical journeys to set off on…
