Hello, fellow adventurers! It’s time to gather round the fire in the old tavern again, to share loot and stories and see what we’ve all gathered in this week’s travels!
The lists content is still going strong this week! Here’s who rated what:
- Allison Alexander suggested 5 fantasy picture books we might enjoy as much as kids! Start ’em young, I say.
- Sammie at The Bookwyrm’s Den suggested some intros to fantasy with Fantasy for Beginners: Where to Start
- Louise at Foxes & Fairytales gave us a list of 10 ‘Magical’ Cosy Mysteries
- Erin at Erin’s Library went exploring and offered up her Top 5 Fantasy Maps
- Anouk at Time for Tales and Tea took to her blog for one of our challenge prompts, and gave us three of her favourite myths and legends
- Caitlin at Realms of my Mind turned a critical (sort of) eye upon rulers in fantasy worlds, and made examples of five of the worst of them!
- Maxine at Maxine’s Obsessions got her WWW Wednesday on, and shared what she’s reading, read, and going to read next
- Jess at Jessticulates gets herself (and me!) all soft-hearted with a list of some of her favourite male characters written by women!
- And kicking off a collection of Top Ten Tuesday posts, Jess also gave us ten fantasy sequels she won’t be reading – but invites us to try to change her mind?
- Annemieke at A Dance With Books turned to books with Magical Realism for Top Ten Tuesday…
- … while DeeZee at Dragons & Zombies shared her favourite fantasy trilogies!
- I joined the lists this week to share ten of my favourite fantasy series
- And imyril at There’s Always Room For One More presented us with reasons to read the Daevabad trilogy!
In the discussion corner, Acqua at Acquadimore Books sat down to talk about the ups and downs of rules and magic systems in fantasy, while Line at First Line Reader delved into the nuances of the fantasy genre.
Some of you got some interviews and guest posts in this week too!
Kriti at Armed With a Book invited author Amanda Fleet to discuss her fantastical inspirations and influences;
Rin at The 13th Shelf talked with artist and author Massimiliano Nigro about Fragments of the Past;
Nils Shukla over at The Fantasy Hive interviewed author Giles Kristian for the release of his novel Camelot;
and Annemieke at A Dance With Books featured an excerpt of Dreams of Thunder by Christian Cura.
The Goblin Emperor Readalong is at its halfway point! Here’s what our readers had to say for the first half of the book:
Week 1: Dear Geek Place | There’s Always Room For One More | A Dance With Books* | Book Forager | Foxes and Fairytales | Lynn’s Books | Natrosette | Peat Long | Word Wilderness | Zezee With Books
*features discussions of both Weeks 1 and 2
Week 2: There’s Always Room For One More | Book Forager | Foxes and Fairytales* | Lynn’s Books | Natrosette | Peat Long* | Word Wilderness | Zezee With Books
*Posts will be linked here when they go up!
That’s it for me for this week, but don’t forget to visit imyril for her round-up of our reviews and random treasure, and Jorie is getting in on the quest log action by taking over the round-up of all your Wyrd & Wonder Challenge entries!
Time to shoulder our packs and set out once more…
