It’s getting close to that time of year again, folks. Summer’s out, autumn is (metaphorically) warming up, and while the weather might be comfortably lodged in Somewhat Miserable here right now, there’s a distinct bite in the air that never fails to excite me. But never mind pumpkin spice lattes – just bring me Sci-Fi Month!

 

That’s right! imyril and I are at it again, and this year #RRSciFiMonth is getting a bit of an image overhaul. Literally. But if you’re new to this annual event, here’s the skinny…

 

What’s Sci-Fi Month?

Sci-Fi Month is an annual blogstravaganza, taking place in November. The event will run all month long, and the bottom line (because we don’t like to be too bound up in pesky Rules) is that it’s an opportunity to openly celebrate all that is good about science fiction. All you need is social media access, a love of SF, and a desire to share that love with like-minded nerds on the internet.

You can write reviews if you have a book blog (or a movie/TV blog, or even both, I hear both is a thing these days!), share the geeky love through Instagram pics, join in or start conversations via Twitter chat – whatever works for you. Share your joy with us, and we will share ours with you, and it will be a glorious joy-fest!

How do I take part?

Easy! There’s a link to the official sign-up form over on my co-host imyril’s blog – just click on the image above to head on over there and find the link to the sign-up form.

If you’d rather be more casual about participating, that’s cool too! As I said, all you really need is social media access. You can follow @SciFiMonth on Twitter, where the majority of our blog links/signal boosting/sharing will be happening. We’re happy to answer any questions you might have over there.

Giveaways!

If you do sign up using the form, there’s a little something extra in it for you this year, as we’re going to be hosting a participant giveaway! Prizes and more details will be forthcoming, but you can enter the giveaway by signing up using the form before November 1st, and making a Sci-Fi Month post in the first week of November.

There’s no deadline for signing up to take part in the event in general – this guideline is purely for giveaway purposes. If you only hear about this on the last day of October, or even after November 1st, you can still take part and we’ll be happy to have you!
