It is May 1st, which means it’s time to go on another fantasy-filled adventure! It also means it’s time for an adventure of a different sort…
… But more on that in a little bit, because first we need to kick off the celebration!
Wyrd and Wonder is finally taking a dive into the world(s) of nautical fantasy, and I’m super excited for pirates, mermaids, sea monsters, sea witches, and much more besides.
As always, we’ll have our prompt challenges for those of a social media persuasion, and our readalongs and buddy reads over on our Discord server, OtherWorlds. We’re going all out with those buddy reads, by the way – we’ve got three dedicated buddy read channels running, as well as one for our official read along for Voyage Of The Damned by Frances White. And we may decide not to stop there! Who knows? So feel free to hop on over there and see what tickles your fancy. If you need an invite to the server, drop me a message here or on Bluesky and I’ll fix you up. The more the merrier!
Personally I plan to play things by ear, but I’ll definitely be helming a buddy read for Emma Newman’s upcoming novel The Vengeance, which I was lucky enough to get an ARC of last year and I’ve been dying for the release to come along so I could include it in our festivities!
Speaking of Emma Newman, she is one author whose work I’ve loved since I began blogging, more or less, and it feels very fitting to me that I’m flying a flag for her latest novel this month, because it feels like coming full circle. And it feels that way because, sort of sadly but also not, I’ll be closing the book on this blog at the end of May.
I feel like it’s time I moved on, though whatever I move on to remains to be seen. And so I’m happy that I get to end on this note, with a new book by an author I’ve always admired – and who’s always been very lovely to me over the years, whenever I waxed lyrical or critical or downright fangirl silly about her work. Usually all three at once, somehow.
There are a great many people who’ve made this little blogging journey of mine a lot of fun, and I hope to take you all with me wherever I go next.
That said, I will remain on social media under the same handle you know me by – my chatter won’t go anywhere, just my words on these online pages. So I’ll see you on Bluesky, or on Instagram, and I’m staying put in OtherWorlds (seriously, they’ll have to drag me out of there, it’s very cosy and safe).
But! I’m not gone yet. We’ve got a ship to launch, a party to start, and one last adventure to go on. So let’s go, dear geeks, and see what we can see…

Ah, it’s always a little bit sad when a long-time blogger is ready to move on, but glad to hear you won’t be gone from the community entirely 😄
Absolutely, I’d miss you all too much if I disappeared completely XD
I will miss you (and also not because you will still be with us at Otherworlds) <3
You will have to drag me away 😉
It’s my first time so I’m looking forward to everyone’s reviews.
It’s going to be a good month! And, to whatever comes next. 🙂
