It’s the final day of August, I’m pulling the woolly garments out of their drawers, and the online SFF celebration season in my part of the blogosphere is almost upon us. Let’s wrap this month up and get on with looking forward!
Month: August 2019
The weather’s turning and the nights are drawing in. More stars in the sky means more space to imagine exploring… November is coming, and you all know what that means, right? If you don’t, well my friend, let me tell you about SciFi Month!
When I decided to reinvent my blog and I got this one up and running, post-Effing Rainbow, I thought it would be a lovely idea (and an excuse to get myself out of the house and into the world more) to write posts about places I visit, both around Scotland and beyond it, whenever I got the chance to visit somewhere. So far I’ve written up a convention diary for this year’s Worldcon in Dublin, but that wasn’t quite what …
So I’m rolling Sunday and Monday into one post to wrap up my Worldcon diary today, on account of Monday’s adventures mostly only involving very tired travel and I’m sure nobody needs me to tell them about that. Nonetheless, I have good things to say, and I’m still having feelings about some of it…
Day 3 of Worldcon had a bit of a different theme, programme-wise. Badass ladies dominated my day, in various ways, shapes and forms. Oh, and there was a particular reading that stood out… What was that about, again…
The Worldcon diaries continue! Today I’m going to talk about Friday’s adventures, which were considerably more adventurous than Thursday’s!
I am home and recovering my brain power after five wonderful days of nerdery at Worldcon in Dublin. And as promised, here is the first of my daily recaps, diary-style. Apologies in advance for the inevitable exhausted memory lapses, I may not be recalling absolutely everything at this point…
So the time has finally come for me to finish Laini Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy, and as before I’ll be breaking this book down into segments and posting a weekly review/discussion post/wordflail about the chapters I read. In these opening chapters, the angels arrive on Earth and … everything’s going to hell. IRONICALLY. Oh, I’ve missed my messed up darlings. Let’s discuss Dreams of Gods & Monsters. Spoilers follow for chapters 1 through 10.
The nerd beacons are lit! Wyrd & Wonder calls for aid! And your TBR will (hopefully) answer. I admit it feels a little odd to be announcing this in the middle of a summer heatwave, but screw it – the team at Wyrd & Wonder are nothing if not excitable, and we’re already making plans. So it seems only fair to give you lot a chance to do the same. Announcing Spooktastic Reads 2019!
